1. My attempted one week off from coffee went spectacularly bad. I got grumpy and tired and ended up eating chocolate to keep going at work. Suffice to say, I lasted one day and then I started drinking it again. I'm accepting my fate as a coffee addict.

2. Today was my last day of work at the clinic. I have a Christmas break followed by (hopefully) my last year as a student. I'm conflicted, sad and confused. My boss hugged me goodbye and I wish I was already done studying.

3. I'm going home for the holidays in one hour. Have not started packing yet. Will miss you all and I hope you all have a very nice Christmas with all it entails for you! *hugs entire flist*

Here's my year summarized in journal posts. I take the first sentence of the first entry of every month and post it to get an overview of the past year. I'm excited, aren't you?

January
This Christmas has been a time for the bitter-sweet feelings of suddenly realizing that you've grown up.

February
The Cure!!!
De spiller 11. februar.

March
Do you guys ever wake up realizing that the day ahead is going to be really hard to get through?

April
Do you ever feel like your life is so overflowing with stuff you need to do that there is just no way that you'll get through it all?

May
First off, congratulations comrades. I hope you all had a great day and that you filled it with much proletarian-friendly fun.

June
This weekend has been really very nice.

July
Well, I had been getting a cold for a while, and one could argue that the reason why it got massively worse was that I chose to go work out and continue stressing through the last days before the larp I´m attending, but I choose to believe that my body is punishing me for denying it chocolate.

August
So I took this test...the gender test at thespark.com, and it told me I was a man.

September
Do you ever have those moments where you look at yourself in the mirror and suddenly realize your entire outfit is a complete failure?

October
Life is difficult. Last week, I was so tired from work that I didn't know what to do and the bags under my eyes got bags of their own.

November
I made my very first pie yesterday.

December
Ever since I started my new and better life (which includes very little candy and snacks, no smoking and vigorous workouts), I’ve started substituting all my cravings for coffee.

...

Wow, after reading through this, I think my new year's resolution this year will be to learn to relax. I've been too busy this year (again).

I'm grumpy. I haven't had my coffee today. I realized that I've become addicted to coffee (again). I will not accept this! I'm taking a week off. No coffee for me until next Thursday. Let's see if I make it...

In other news, the lovely [livejournal.com profile] aj_stalin has admitted to loving something so soppy it makes my insides cringe and asked the rest of us, in Christmas spirit, to share something we are ashamed to love with the rest of you.

I hereby rise to the occation:

When I was really little, Absolute Music released a Christmas special (or, to be honest, by the time I noticed them they'd released): Absolute Christmas 2. It's a mix tape of different, more than well known songs that brings holiday cheer. In other words, it's pretty awful. But I was young and tasteless, and I loved song number 4: Frankie Goes to Hollywood - the power of love. That's right, not a good song, nothing to do with Christmas, and yet for me I still cannot decorate a Christmas tree without listening to it.

So there you have it:

I, of course, invite the rest of my flist to do the same. I've shared something horribly embarrassing with you. Now it's your turn.
*waves at flist*

I don't think I've ever been this excited about Christmas. It is weird, but very time I walk past a tacky fake Christmas tree or light ornaments my tummy gets this warm, comfy feeling inside and I start dreaming about Christmas. The cakes, the food, the gløgg, the snow, the Christmas trees, the presents. I've decided to force my office to partake in this inflated holiday cheer by buying red candles and gløgg and Christmas cookies to serve to the patients.

So how about you guys? Are you looking forward to Christmas? What holiday traditions do you love/hate? What are you most excited about?
I'm done for the year. All books are put back in their shelves, all the exams are handed in and passed (quite well, actually), all Christmas presents are bought and soon my bags will be packed to go home to Holmestrand for Christmas. Only trouble is, my flatmate has the key to the mailbox and I'm waiting for the last Christmas-present to come in the mail. Also, he has the key to the basement where my bags are. So I'm stuck here, waiting for him to get home.

And speaking of mail, I just got the most amazing Christmas present in the mail the other day. [livejournal.com profile] chesire_monkey, you are absolutely amazing! I cannot believe you did that! *huggles you*

And thank you so much for the Spike figure [livejournal.com profile] abigor60. So cool. Both Spikey and the picture of the three of us at the California state fair is up in the book shelve outlooking my living room.

Again, thank you both so much! It was way too much! (You should have let me know so I could have sent you more than a couple of CD's and a card.) Merry Christmas!

And what do I do when I have to wait? I do meme's!

what D&D character are you? )

Also, my bail is set at $ 620

your bail is... )
I'm spending christmas with my family. My heart is with you guys (limminel) who didn't get home in time! But, more imporantly, my christmas rocks! We're only the four of us (me, one of my brothers, mum and dad) but we're having great fun. All the pressies are opened and we're taking turns listening to the cd's we've got. So far, christmas dinner was awsome, I was eating pork tenderloin potatoes and sauce, officially the best christmasfood ever! I got an Ipod and the new Tom Waits album! And it is awsome! Awsome I tell you! This year's christmas drink (gin and tonic with a slice of cucumber) on the other hand, was questionable. I think I'll stick with aquavite and beer, but still, it matched the enormous amount of posing for pictures we've done...

to the norwegians:

Merry christmas everyone!
And I wasn't even being ironic, if you can believe it. I love my job, and, as of right now, I love my employers as well. As you all may already know, I work for an agency distributing people to fill in in short or long term vacancies. This means that this fall I've effectively had 5 jobs including this one. I love the change of pace from one job to another, I love the fact that everywhere I've been working with has been nice people but most importantly, I love the fact that the agency (x-tra personelle) is not only able to get me employed, they manage to do it with competitive salaries and at the same time they seem genuinely interested in my well-being. Today, Sigurd (my current agent) came over to see how I was doing. I thought he'd be monotering me or something, but mostly we talked about christmas and he gave me a christmas card from him and the other three agents I've worked with at x-tra and a large box of chocolates. Can you say amazing?

Yesterday we had a miniatyre chistmas with nummy food and pressies at home, me, [livejournal.com profile] mirazandar, [livejournal.com profile] akselwestlund, [livejournal.com profile] 45hasle, [livejournal.com profile] aj_stalin and Hanne. So great! stuffed peppers and ice cream for dessert. Oh, and soft drinks with the dinner. It was a good christmas eve!

I've gotten a new passion: Going to conserts with bands I have no experience with! First it was Molvær, which was amazing, and yesterday it was Laibach! It was so cool and the consert was brilliant. THe beer tasted like heaven (or at least not Ringnes), the people were great ([livejournal.com profile] grimgram and [livejournal.com profile] aj_stalin and Thomas, I love you guys!), and the all over mood was just swee-he-he-heet! Oh, and I found that I like Laibach.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] aj_stalin I will love you forever for this christmas present. So brilliant!

Of course I'm all tired now, but that is to be expected...

Signing out to do work stuff. See, I can be good at my job... ;)

I'm faith I'm faith, I so rock! )
So, I went to work today, and realized that my bosses very flattering and a little desperate text message saying they needed me had convinced me to come back to work when in fact I am still sick. So it feels like I´m floating slightly above my chair instead of sitting in it, and writing this takes a surprisingly long time. Sucky. But at least I get paid and can quell my bad concience for staying away one day.

On a different an more exciting note: I need a child! That is, not an actual child, just for one day. I can interest the world with an invitation to a christmas gathering for customers to the allers-group. Free food, gløgg and ponyrides for the children and a christmas tree to bring home after. I need that christmas tree! So, anyone up for going with me? Martin? Aina? Marthe? Anyone with kids cause I think they love us more if we bring children. On the other hand, if we can´t scroungch up any, we´ll just go anyways. Marthe: are you interested in bringing your foster kids with you?

!!

( Nov. 19th, 2005 05:11 pm)
I like Christmas. I'm a sucker for simple things like free coffee and cookies in stores (the mail office had it), and obnoxious christmasmusic. I like the way people smile more when christmas is approaching, and I even like the huge and, to be quite honest, tacky christmas decorations that Oslo provides in wintertime. But when Coca Cola tells me to "Share the Christmas Magic" something has gone very wrong. Now, Coca Cola Company is a company that traditionally is not afraid to stand up for the politically uncorrect way of thinking. They will go out of their way to concretizise their right to steal water from starving villiagers and use child and slave labor in their factories. I don't argue with that, I just don't buy their products when I can avoid it, but I honestly feel that they should refrain from ever using the word "share" in their publicity stunts. I mean, they're all about the opposite of sharing right? Then they should at least stick to what they're good at, being assholes.
