Mini-break from writing

I have a deadline for a 5 pages article tomorrow morning, so I´m trying to finish up now. It´s a drag.

But do you know what´s more of a drag? Realizing that yet another one of my childhood buddies have gotten engaged, gotten children (yes, plural), a full-time job doing what she wants to do with her life, a house and a dog.

I´m not sure if I should feel old or unaccomplished? Somehow I manage to do both.

Dear friend, as much as you envy them, they'd envy your freedom and chances of self-expression. We always covet the things in life that we don't have, regardless of how successful we are with other things.

Were you to tell that buddy, say, that encounter with the cleaners and the sex-toys, there would be some serious green-face in effect. ("What? Your lifestyle still allows you to just forget your sex-toys in plain sight. And you don't have to use them alone, in secret! Oh you lucky cow!")
