Mini-break from writing

I have a deadline for a 5 pages article tomorrow morning, so I´m trying to finish up now. It´s a drag.

But do you know what´s more of a drag? Realizing that yet another one of my childhood buddies have gotten engaged, gotten children (yes, plural), a full-time job doing what she wants to do with her life, a house and a dog.

I´m not sure if I should feel old or unaccomplished? Somehow I manage to do both.

Dear friend, as much as you envy them, they'd envy your freedom and chances of self-expression. We always covet the things in life that we don't have, regardless of how successful we are with other things.

Were you to tell that buddy, say, that encounter with the cleaners and the sex-toys, there would be some serious green-face in effect. ("What? Your lifestyle still allows you to just forget your sex-toys in plain sight. And you don't have to use them alone, in secret! Oh you lucky cow!")

Grunnen til at jeg ikke kom på laiven: Artikkel til His4316. Alle andre fag på 4000nivå krever bare at man møter opp til eksamen, men Einar Lie krever mer. Skal holde foredrag på torsdag og levere inn artikkelen i morgen. Har skrevet 3.5 sider så langt...har ikke hatt tid til å jobbe med det på ukedager siden jeg jobber med masteren min, så da har begge de foregående helgene gått med.

Hørte laiven ble bra da! :)

At least you are two years older than me. Kindergarten friend of mine gave birth three weeks ago, and Thursday I found out that another one of them is pregnant. That's three and counting now, and we're not even 23 yet.

Sa ikke at jeg aldri har lyst på barn. Sa jeg var glad jeg ikke var mor og bodde i Holmestrand nå. Jeg liker ungdomstida mi.

I think there's absolutely no need for you to feel old nor unaccomplished! There's still time for that whole family thing - once you go there, there's no turning back! So you should just sit back and enjoy your current life ;)
