The best of Norwegian pop

I usually love the places I come from. Those of you who've met me will probably have noticed this by my good-natured picking on Holmestrand (the town I grew up in). Much like my love for a sickly child who looks like a circus freak, I love my home town. I have the same, though slightly less negative, love for Norway, and thus, I would like to promote it's good music and excellent taste. Alas, this is not to be, because Norwegian pop sucks. Let me give you some examples:

For those of you who've heard/seen these videos before, I'd like you to watch them again (or remember them with horror) and think of what messages the Norwegian music industry is sending to the rest of the world. For the rest of you, enjoy the "best" of Norwegian pop. *shudder*

I'm not saying all Norwegian music sucks. We have bands like Kaisers Orchestra, Madrugada and Dimmu Borgir, but these are not pop bands.

Actually, I like Unni Wilhelmsen too, not my favorite artist, but one of them. So they're not all bad, but still!

um, this is embarrassing, but i'm not exactly sure why i added you in the first place...possibly on one of my "finding people who are interested in queer theory" livejournal sprees. you also like Velvet Goldmine, and other awesome things. learnt about Unni Wilhelmsen from supernemi (who's from Norway) but i haven't heard that uch of her stuff. i definitely like what i've heard, though.

As you very well know, since I keep telling you, that Holmestrand has been a town for more than 250 years. I will also add that Holmestrand a town mentioned frequently in Aftenposten from 1948-52, both for it's aluminium factory, it's sports events and it's general niceness (oh, and once because of a pedophile). So there!
