On my way to work this morning I got stared down by a cop armed with an mp5. Pretty scary. Turns out today was not the best day to wear my palestine scarf since I work next door to the hotel Condolezza Rice will be staying at. There is something profundly uncomfortable about suspicious police officers with large guns. I've grown up with the nice and comfortable feeling that police officers are the good guys who, without guns, uphold the law and makes sure that the bad people does not hurt anyone. Now, suddenly, they're standing behind fences, armed, while large helicopters fly overhead and large black commando cars drive by. I don't like it.

I think I'm going to the demonstration today, but I don't want to go if I can't leave my guitar somewhere on the way. First of all, it's annoying as hell carrying it, but second of all there's rumors that there'll be trouble and I don't want it to get hurt.

Oi, there are police officers on the roofs as well. The joys of working on the tenth floor.

Yep. I usually don't dislike norwegian police (not necessarily saying that i trust their judgement, but still) And then, when I'm in foreign countries, like france or sweden, and they're armed all of a sudden, i feel uncomfortable and avoid them at all costs.

yep

good luck with the demo

Thanks. :) I hope I can find a place for my guitar though. Or else I don't think I'll dare...

No no, I have to go from work to band practice and from there to the demo. If it was at Stortinget (parliament) it would be okay, then I could just pop by work and leave it, but it's at youngstorget and thus right by the place I practice, far far from work. And I don't dare leave it at AKKS, cause it would be stolen or used and broken by the people there...

So far I've gone for coughing at them, then spitting on the sidewalk right next to them...it annoys them, or at least makes them uncomfortable back. I've also been stared at by the policeman on the roof...he had binoculars.

Why, that's just plain bad manners, young woman! Spitting on the sidewalk right next to someone is tantamount to smacking him in the face with a glove. You should be lucky you weren't shot straight away!
