Today’s workday started with me waking up after a really disturbing
I had this really disturbing dream last night. I was on vacation in Spain with Aina, her mother and two twin sisters and we were going to the beach. Everything was in dull colours and it looked as if we were in Norway in early autumn, not Spain in the summer. Anyways, we go into this kiosk to buy ice cream for the beach trip, and the people working there are peddling souvenirs and snakes, not ice cream. One customer says that he/she is going to prove his/her bravery by handling the most poisonous snake, and the owner lets the snake out of its cage. I’m standing close by looking at stupid key chains and I hear people screaming “look out” right before I step back and walk into the snake who jumps up and bites me in the forehead. I scream and try to get it off of me, but only succeed in getting it to bite my hand instead. I scream that the owner has to help me get it off, blood running from my forehead into my eyes, but he only tells me that if I can’t kill the snake, the poison will kill me. My only chance of survival is to kill the snake. (It should be mentioned here that I have this policy of never hurting any living thing including little weird insects that I find in my bathroom. Yesterday I spent 10 minutes goading a little wormy thing out of my bathroom so I could take a shower certain that I didn’t kill it. Call me squeamish or call me nice, your choice, but I never kill things.) Somewhere in that half second after he told me, my feelings changed from fear and desperation to resolve and anger, and I ripped the snake off my hand, violently, threw it down on the floor and use the side of my boot to decapitate it, to general cheering and applause. The general feeling in the room was that I was a very brave and amazing person, since I could kill the snake in such a brutal and decisive way.
Here I get a flashback to earlier in the day when I accidentally killed an eel. I’m sitting at a table asking Aina’s mother how to best prepare eel, while I’m eating raw pieces of it. She agreed that a stew would be most appropriate.
Back in the real-time dream I realized that the “lady of the sea” (whom I suddenly knew was a super-mermaid) would be very cross at me for killing her snakes when the owner of the store wanted me to buy a mermaid-shaped flute that I knew would summon her. Right then, Aina’s sisters come in and say in one, very creepy voice, “We should summon Alalthazar, son of the forest” before they exit the store. I know I don’t want them to do that, as Alalthazar is the enemy of the lady of the sea, but I don’t know why.
and rushing to the office. I feel pretty today, with pearls and a pretty yet utterly comfortable skirt. Wish I’d have had time for breakfast (fruit just isn’t the same as fibre in the morning), but I guess you can’t have it all. The other secretary, sweet Vigdis, was back and told me I’d forgotten to say if I could come to Siri’s retirement dinner/celebration. Ups. I of course said yes, and then found out it would be at Bølgen og Moi, a restaurant so swanky that I’ve never even sat foot in there, and we’re having a four course meal and drinks included. This is going to be so awesome!
My idea of reaching my goal of being strong, fit, slim and beautiful is a little bit hampered by the fact that my lungs still aren’t working. Going to work is enough to make me tired and I keep having to postpone fun stuff because I’m too tired from work to do anything else, which is very bad for band practice for instance. Blargh! Oh well, saw Dog Soldiers yesterday. Awesome. I love Lucius Verinus (you know, the guy from Rome) and now that he doesn’t have to compete with Titus Pollo, he was so utterly butch. Definitely a must-see.
Oh, and by the way, just because I put my dream behind a cut does not mean that I don’t desperately want your input on it! It freaked me out…
And, here, I bring you more memes.
