I realized that in the last few years tv-series have gotten a special place in my heart. From early childhood I've been a movie buff, I love and cherish movies almost more than books because I love every part of the moviemaking. I can watch a film I don't nessesarily like the story in and just admire the dialogue or the camera angles. But, in the last few years, I've started noticing that tv-shows have grown in quality. Shows like Carnivale, Twin Peaks, Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Battlestar Galactica all have a special place in my heart not only for the story but for the characters and the plot twists. I used to think that the camera works in series were less good than in movies, simply because they had only a week to shoot each episode, but watching the elegance of the scenography of Carnivale, or the camera angles of Firefly, I realize that this is at least as good as most movies I've seen. Also, the fact that they have approximately 22 episodes to build up a plot, characters, twists and story, gives the series-genre the opportunity of telling a story in much greater detail and depth than a movie could. So that's it, there's more crappy shows on than crappy movies, but when a show is good, it's damned good.
