It's so nice to be right

Lately, I've been noticing how much closer I have to be to signs and the like to read properly. First, I assumed it went for everyone, but after a while, I couldn't help but notice how others were able to recognize buildings and stuff like that much sooner than me. Finally, and of course because I always feel extra-sexy when I wear someone else's glasses, I decided to go get my sight checked out. And loh and behold: I'm near-sighted.

The best part of it though, is that I don't actually have to get glasses. Even though I'm near-sighted, it's so little that I notice it, but not bad enough that she'd recommend glasses just yet. So I still have 2 years to come up with the money to pay for these glasses.

Now, if only the actual test didn't cost me a bundle, life would be good. Then again, food is for people who want to get fat, and subway tickets are for people who don't like excitement in their lives. I live on the edge of starvation

Try having to wear the damn things for 13 years just to be able to recognize human faces at ranges above 15cm and come back an tell us how cool they are. Try having to cash out money to buy new ones every three years because the old ones aren't strong enough, having them fog up every time you step out of the cold at wintertime (or pour the water off the spaghetti), getting cuts in the foreheads when drunk friends give you overenthusiastic hugs. Try forgetting to bring extra lenses when going out, thus having to navigate a strange city from the some seedy hotel the next morning half blind. Try cashing out 3k a year on contact lenses. Try not being able to sleigh ride, play football or do martial arts because you don't have any lenses left (and 'cause your blind without them). Try...

Yup. That's what I think of being positive. Welcome to the ranks of the seriously handicapped. You'll hate it.

I was thinking "Hey! My lenses aren't that expencive" and then I realised the are. I just don't notice it as the money is drawn from my account the sec. i get my salary. Like taxes. Mhm.

But I don't always have to bring extra lenses as I use night&day lenses. Moahahahaha.

Taxes: Taxes are withheld from your salary by your employer,not drawn from your account. (Yes, I'm slightly pedantic here, but I _do_ work in accounting, you know (kill me now!))

Expensiveness: Yup. I've prioritized toy guns and food for a while. Wants new lenses now.

I KNOW about the taxes, what I ment is it's withdrawn befor I even notice it's there. I too work with finances and knows perfectly well when the taxes are witdrawn.

I have no chance to buy other stuff befor I buy lenses (or so I pretend), so, not a problem.

Ikke sant...nesten så jeg fikk lyst til å insistere på at jeg ville ha lesebriller bare så jeg kunne ha en unnskyldning til å ta dem på ved festlige anledninger og når jeg har lyst til å se ut som en sexy bibliotekar. ;)

Yay! To make me feel the greatness of glasses, sjokoladepiken let me borrow hers while I´m reading at her place. They are pretty sexy though, but then again my nose tickles from wearing them so I guess that´s a trade-off.

Ja, och läsglasögon kan man ju få för femtio kronor eller så, du kan ju alltid ha ett par att leka med!(fast kanske dåligt för ögonen ... men vad gör man inte för att vara fin? (Erm, inte mycket alls om man är jag i och för sig, men jag har åtminstone glasögon :-D )

It goes away after a few days. When I stop wearing glasses and switch to contact lenses for a long while; the next time I try on glasses they itch for a bit.

Exactly how near sighted? I got something like 0.25 or something. Meaning not too near sighted at all...
